We aren't going to change something because we're losing followers, or it's not what the NA community wants. We're lucky enough to have callofstats help us out with that, and i'm sorry but if you guys don't like it, then we don't mind if you unfollow us. We've been tweeting the Spain circuit in Spanish because the main audience that follows that circuit speaks Spanish. It's unfair to the other regions that are trying to make this a profession, and put so much time and effort into COD esports for us to just ignore them. I understand why some people don't like the fact we are covering all 8 regions of the National Circuit on twitter, and that it "floods" their timelines, but at the same time when we created this, we never wanted to isolate the North American scene & European scene. It’s so rare now speaking about this stuff to not just have 2 people insulting each other and refusing to see the others POV since everyone can be guilty of that.Hey guys, most of you know I run the twitter account COD Gamepedia, and I just wanted to address some things that have been said to us over the past 15 hours. A couple of my good friends are women within the esports scene and they’ve both fallen victim to manipulative creeps, perhaps that means I’m a little biased towards the women though to be honest. When more than 1 comes out I just can’t believe it’s a coincidence personally. When I see things like this, if it’s one woman making an allegation I try to stay as middle grounded as possible if it’s just messages as they can easily be taken out of context and it’s only fair to the accused. It’s forever going to be word against word and like you said the fanbase decides that their fav is harmless. Speaking about this case specifically, I’d assume far more evidence got sent to Blizzard than just the roofie screenshot, but the physical allegations against Momo are so hard to prove like him allegedly forcing a 15 year old to touch his penis in a hotel room. I think in most cases physical evidence is basically impossible since they’re usually private things, I think that’s a reason why the sexual assault conviction rate is so low because without a r*pe kit being done right after it’s pretty hard to find concrete evidence. Nobody has to do anything, but a lot of people would appreciate if they did make a small gesture of solidarity and support. I wonder how much more pressure the industry and abusers would feel if their personalities said something like you did. It was Activision’s silence that prompted you to come out and speak and it’s because of you that we’re all even having this conversation, so thank you so so much. I know you know these people and work in the space so I want to believe your optimism that things would be different had this not been a franchising year, but I also think there’s something to be said about how easy it should be for the men to say something now, when women across the entire gaming industry have been coming forward with their stories trying to protect others and change the culture. It doesn’t necessarily have to be directly to each woman who’s come forward, just to the general public that the community needs to do better. I was trying to get to the point that I just can’t imagine a logical explanation as to how there’s anything to be lost by saying something. If I had worded it better you’d see I’m a fan of a lot of these people’s esports careers and streams and I don’t actually think that even a majority of them are out there assaulting women. I was thinking out loud, trying to figure out what’s with all the silence. For the sake of the victims, it’s their responsibility to show them support and make this esport safe for women.Īlso, I noticed Attach’s mom liked Trei’s tweet and I just wanted to share that information.Īfter re-reading what I wrote, I’ve realize that it does sound like I’m being accusatory toward every player and that wasn’t meant to be the point. The biggest names in the CDL have been vocal all year about the lack of support from IW despite threats of financial retribution. Any way you shake it, it isn’t okay.Īnd, we’re not going to accept “Acti told them not to” as a defense. Maybe there are quite a few more who are scared about what will come out about themselves and that’s why they’re trying to avoid getting involved or maybe this scene as a whole really is just willing to turn a blind eye to the horrors women in our community have been subjected to. That’s got me thinking about why everyone is silent. It’s very disappointing and not at all fair to the women who’ve bravely come forward for hardly any players and zero teams or league personnel to publicly denounce the behavior and actions that lead to Momo’s termination. I’ve just come back to this thread to say that it looks like no more pros came out to say anything today and that all the pros, that I follow at least, on twitter still follow Momo.
